About this deal

It will be interesting to see if the youth of tomorrow will find this very current feeling slice of slasher cinema as a quaint piece of entertainment in the future. When a group of rich 20-somethings plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion, a party game goes awry in this fresh and funny look at backstabbing, fake friends, and one party gone very, very wrong.

Tad The Lost Explorer And The Curse Of The Mummy unravels at a breathless pace, contriving conflict between Tad and his crew before a pithy distillation of life lessons about friendship and self-sacrifice. As alcohol and drugs flow, and Bee unknowingly devours a cannabis-spiked chocolate cake, the group elects to play a game of Bodies Bodies Bodies during a storm-related power outage. He impetuously pushes a stone relief inside an Aztec temple and activates a trapdoor mechanism that leads to a vast chamber and – curiously – an Egyptian sarcophagus. According to the synopsis, “A group of seven young friends have a house party at a remote mansion during a hurricane” — of course, of course, of course, it's all down to a rogue weather event — “hosted by childhood best friends Sophie, who is recently sober, and David, who is excessively wealthly”. Audiences polled by PostTrak gave the film an average 3 out of 5 stars, with 63% saying they would definitely recommend it.The low-key resentment disguised as bitchy banter soon erupts into full on hostility with the murder in the dark style game where true feelings and long held secrets soon come to light as the corpses pile up. It stars Amandla Stenberg, Maria Bakalova, Myha'la Herrold, Chase Sui Wonders, Rachel Sennott, Lee Pace, and Pete Davidson.

For, despite this group of former friends dwindling to an ever-decreasing circle, the film keeps you guessing right until the end. Sophie (Stenberg) and her new girlfriend Bee (Maria Bakalova) travel along winding hillside roads to a hurricane party at a remote mansion hosted by Sophie’s best buddy David (Pete Davidson) and her coterie of rich friends. Host David (Pete Davidson) greets them with little enthusiasm, and there’s an undercurrent of suspicion between the group and Sophie that works well to keep the viewer guessing as to who the killer is and what their motives are.
