About this deal

Panini Comics proudly present the second volume of stories starring the Doctor's most deadly foes the Daleks! For the second volume, there’s a couple of strips we haven’t yet digitised and wondered if you might be able to spread the word among art collectors to see if anyone still has the original artwork which we could possibly scan? Does anyone know why the back-up strips from Doctor Who Weekly and the early monthlies have never been collected into volumes?

I reckon they’ll be waiting for 13’s run to be over so they can collect all of 13’s remaining issues in the next one. Volume 2 is highly recommended to anyone who purchased the first volume, and anyone purchasing this volume will want to purchase the first volume. The amount of surviving original art from “The Daleks” used for the most recent collection really is pretty incredible, as much commercial comic art has, sadly, simply been destroyed down the years. Great stuff - the second volume collecting all the Doctor Who Magazine Dalek strips - some well drawn art and some solid scripting brining back some great memories …. DWM editor Marcus Hearn has previously said that he’d love to do collections of pre-DWM strips, from TV Comic, Countdown, and TV Action; but these are dependent on sourcing artwork known to have survived, if possible, as well as scans from good quality issues of the titles.

The Eighth Doctor and his companion Izzy arrive on the satellite Icarus Falling to find it under attack by the Daleks. Very good read if you are a fan of Daleks, sure Doctor Who turns up here and there but it's mostly Daleks. I’m not really caught up on the comic copyright situation, but does anyone know the logistics of republishing the Dalek books from back in the 60s, such as the Dalek Outer Space Book?

I seem to remember there was a court case raised by the copyright holders (previously souvenir press) when the beeb published the dalek handbook… so probably not on the best terms for the 60s annuals. When people realize this as we now face tough economic times firms will struggle more than they realize yet.
