About this deal

My first impression of this book was that it would make a great addition to any class teacher introducing various fruit varieties to her young class. The children enjoyed the book, but I felt that they did not take much for it, and the same feeling was with me as well. She has won many awards for her books, and is regularly invited to festivals including Cheltenham and the Edinburgh International Book Festival. Oliver has recently spent time with his grandparents and it appears that any food or drink he is given at home by his mum is not good enough. From observations of this story being read to school Nursery children during the topic of ‘Colours’, they were becoming rather bored and after a while, they were not fully focused as they could be.

Vivian teaches part time at Edinburgh College of Art, and is one of the two founding members of the PictureHooks programme supporting Scottish illustrators. Alison Bartlett (Illustrator) Alison studied illustration at Anglia College of Art in Cambridge and began an M. It is a fun, colourful and adventurous book about a little boy who eats a variety of fruits at his grandparent’s house. It made a good intro to our planned topic of making a fruit salad and opened up some good comments from our preschool group. I did enjoy reading this story but I think for the age I believe it is suitable for, it is far too long so therefore I rate it 3*.nutrition, and the luscious, sunshiny palette of Bartlett's acrylic paintings will set the taste buds tingling. Personally I think it’s a great book to encourage children to try fruits, the illustrations are a little outdated and dark it would be great if it was updated so it’s more clear to see but that’s just my opinion. If you are concerned about the health and wellbeing of yourself or children in your care, you should always consult an appropriate healthcare professional. A set of simple printable sheets featuring images of fruit from the popular story for children to colour along with writing lines for writing.
