About this deal

A funny and surprising story about a little girl who comes face to face with the legendary scary, hairy yeti--who's not quite what he seems!

Betty and the Yeti 🐻‍❄️ by Ella Burfoot | For the first of our special episodes of Story Time Online we have Bodmin College student Milly reading us Betty and the Yeti by Ella Burfoot in front of. My daughter and I love to read this book because of the trail of clothing left behind by the (when discovered) naked yeti whom everyone is scared of but who isn't scary at all.The Yeti with Betty was a comic strip in the UK comic The Beano, first appearing in issue 2633, dated 2 January 1993, and drawn throughout by Robert Nixon. Our first copy was eventually covered in so much sellotape, and so loved that I thought an extra copy for his memory box was essential. Dust Jackets are not guaranteed and when still present, they will have various degrees of tear and damage.

Just as in Darkness Slipped In, she is not shy of using a lot of black in her illustrations, and I love that. A poor condition book can still make a good reading copy but is generally not collectible unless the item is very scarce. Sick of the cold weather and lack of company, a talking yeti flees the Himalaya by grabbing onto the wheel of a passing aeroplane, landing in the white cliffs of Dover. Used books have different signs of use and might not include supplemental materials such as CDs, Dvds, Access Codes, charts or any other extra material.

Betty and the Yeti by Ella Burfoot is a delightful EYFS and KS1 story that is perfect for your polar regions topic! Betty loves to go for a slide in the snow with her little red sled and one day as she is having a stroll, she keeps coming across random things: a pair of gloves, a jingly jangly fluffy hat, hairy snow boots, a woolly scarf and an enormous coat. She earned both her undergraduate and Masters degrees in Illustration from the University of Falmouth. I have written and illustrated several picture books, including ‘Betty and the Yeti’, and ‘Darkness Slipped In’, which was highly commended at the British book design and production awards in 2008 and nominated for the Kate Greenaway medal in 2009. Not only is her illustration style really engaging, with gorgeously drawn characters and beautiful wintery landscapes but I particularly like her use of colour.
