About this deal

This wasn’t a long book but, it delivered on all fronts and I’m looking forward to the next one in this series when it comes out.

From the evil tyrant president who hates children and has turned a country into a wasteland, from the brave, smart, adorable kids like Rachel and Robert on a mission to save their father and the whole country, to a whole heap of side-characters that either made me giggle, or want to hug the book.

Unfortunately for Rachel and Robert, their father is captured and imprisoned, leaving them as sole protectors of the book. La historia es alucinante y te digo yo que todo lo que contiene la trama con muertes, torturas y movidas políticas no puede ser un libro para niños. Yesterday a parent came over to tell me how impressed she was by the book fair and that you did a fabulous job of selling the books to the children first. I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly!

David Farr has squirreled inspiration from his real-life German Jewish ancestors into the fictional realm of Krasnia, ruled by a cruel, child-hating autocrat. The Book of Stolen Dreams is the first book in the Stolen Dreams adventure series and was an amazing, adventure packed read from cover to cover. With a gorgeous cover like that and with the tile of The Book of Stolen Dreams I had high expectations for this adventurous middle grade novel. When the children discover the astonishing, magical truth about the Book, they resolve to do everything in their power to stop it falling into his hands.

The only existence siblings, Rachel and Robert, have ever known has been a dreary one under the rule of Charles Malstain. The magical side of the book doesn't dominate and it doesn't overwhelm and confuse, which I was delighted about.

With a big heart and courage to match, she has a strong sense of justice and the importance to fight for what is right, even when the cost may seem to be too great to bear. And then those characters that brought others back and now someone else wants to live forever and oh no that can't happen. Anthony HorowitzWhen Rachel and Robert are passed a stolen book by their librarian father, they have to go on the run and protect it at all costs. This is an epic adventure of secrets, privacy, a book that is much sought after, an evil dictator and the most incredible bunch of characters. A great debut for David Farr and I'm hopping my next door neighbour's granddaughter, who is 10, will love this adventure just as much as I did.
